Diwali-Festival of Lights

About this event

Ireland India Council in conjunction with Dublin City Council is delighted to invite members of the public to join us in celebrating Diwali-Festival of Lights to be held virtually observing the current COVID-19 protocols. This year four days long festival will start on Friday 13 November and culminate on Monday 16 November 2020.

The civic celebration of Diwali is a spectacular event in Ireland that encompasses and invites members and peers from across communities to share the joys and wondrous Diwali celebration with community leaders, and leading personalities from businesses, academics, and politics across Ireland.

Diwali is one of the most popular festivals of India that symbolises the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is similar to Christmas, over 1.3 billion people celebrate Diwali in India and, with the conjunction of Dublin City Council, we are celebrating Diwali- Festival of Lights in Ireland since 2008. The message of 2020 Diwali celebration applies to people and communities of all backgrounds. The virtual event will include dance, music, fashion and visual arts, followed by messages by dignitaries.
